Then & Now: Los Cerritos Neighborhood Centennial
|
On October 7th celebrate Los Cerritos' centennial at the Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site. The day features guided tram tours of the neighborhood and informative exhibits on the art, history and culture of early Long Beach, including displays on the Virginia Country Club, the development of farms and dairies, the oil industry and Los Cerritos School.

Part of the “Taste of Encino” Street Fair on October 8th, enjoy seven hours of nonstop music on three stages: The Western Music Association Stage, The Bluegrass Association of Southern California’s Stage, and The California Traditional Music Society’s Stage. If that's not enough entertainment for you, there's also the Santa Monica Traditional Folk Music Club’s Song Room, a folk dance area, a storytelling’s stage, a folk arts and crafts show, a folk music expo, and a children’s craft area. The festival will be held in Encino Park, the home of the California Traditional Music Society’s Center For Folk Music.

| Spotlight: ArtNight Pasadena |
|
Fourteen cultural institutions will open their doors for free during ArtNight Pasadena on Friday, October 13th, offering the public a rich sampling of quality art, artifacts and music.
Collaborating venues for this semi-annual event, with free shuttle service, are Armory Center for the Arts, Armory Northwest, Williamson Gallery of Art Center College of Design, Art Center South Campus, Norton Simon Museum of Art, One Colorado, Pacific Asia Museum, Pasadena Central Library, Pasadena City College, Pasadena Conservatory of Music, Pasadena Museum of California Art, Pasadena Museum of History, Pasadena Playhouse and Pasadena Symphony at the Civic Auditorium.
